Three German software companies have unveiled an end-to-end ecommerce solution, where all data and processes stay in Europe. Cloud provider STACKIT, platform provider Empiriecom and IT service provider Adesso have created an ecosystem that gives online sellers data sovereignty, in accordance with legal standards.
The new ecommerce solution is called German Digital Commerce Operation Model. For online retailers and their customers, it means that all data and shop processes remain in Germany, protected by the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation.
Data stored in Europe
According to the creators, data sovereignty is a focus of entrepreneurial activity in the face of regulatory hurdles and geopolitical instability. Many online retailers no longer want to depend on cross-border online companies like Amazon, Shopify or Google Cloud. Instead, they want their data to be stored at European companies.
‘We offer a reliable and secure alternative to solutions offered by international software providers’
“Our partnership offers a reliable and secure alternative to the solutions offered by international hyperscalers and software providers”, explains Empiriecom Managing Director Ralf Männlein. “This addresses the growing demand for sovereign data security, performance, and legal compliance in digital commerce.”
Combined software solutions
The ecosystem combines the software solutions of all three companies. STACKIT hosts all data and applications in Germany and Austria. Because of its zero-access security policy, data sovereignty remains with the customer at all times. Adesso has experience in the ecommerce industry, and makes sure that the solutions are tailored to each client’s business model.
Empiriecom provides its platform, which is adaptable to a wide range of business models, channels and markets. This allows companies to run multi-shop and omnichannel structures on the technology. According to Empiriecom, it is used by businesses with annual revenues exceeding 400 million euros.
