In the financial year between 2024 and 2025, the European cross-border ecommerce market reached a turnover of 358.7 billion euros. And 247.5 billion euros, or 70 percent, of that was generated by online marketplaces.

These data come from the sixth edition of the “TOP 100 Cross-Border Marketplaces Europe” report from Cross-Border Commerce Europe. Last year, online marketplaces generated 225 billion euros, or 69 percent of the total online cross-border revenue. At that time, the market was worth 326 billion euros.

Top 10 cross-border marketplaces

The report has also released a top 10 of cross-border marketplaces. The list is as follows:

Top 100 marketplaces generate 216.8 billion euros

According to the report, prominent online platforms like Amazon and eBay still dominate the cross-border market. They capture more than half of the marketplace-driven turnover. The top 100 cross-border marketplaces also stand out, with a turnover of 216.82 billion euros. This is an increase of 10 percent, compared to a year earlier.

Overall cross-border GMV is expected to increase in 2026

Cross-Border Commerce Europe expects that the share of marketplaces in total ecommerce GMV will stay steady throughout 2026. This signals a potential market maturation. However, overall cross-border GMV is expected to rise. At least 98.2 percent of visitors are forecasted to be cross-border next year.
