The easyGroup, the company behind easyJet, has launched easyCourier. It is rebranding Cypriot local logistics company Svelta Courier. With the takeover, easyGroup has entered the last-mile delivery sector. It wants to expand its services across Europe.
EasyGroup is the owner of the Easy family of brands. It is known mostly for easyJet, a British low-cost airline. The company has been looking to expand its brands lately. Specifically, the company is looking to enter European ecommerce. Earlier this month, it announced the launch of easyShop, a new online marketplace.
Launch of online marketplace
The marketplace is built on OnBuy’s marketplace technology. OnBuy has its own popular marketplace, which is currently active in 21 European countries. Additionally, the company offers its marketplace technology to other brands, so they can build their own marketplaces with it.
EasyShop is launching in 21 European countries
EasyShop will launch in 21 European countries later this year, and will operate as a pure marketplace. This means that easyGroup will not compete with partner sellers. Brands and retailers can already register if they are interested.
Rebranding of local courier
More recently, easyGroup has announced that it is launching easyCourier. The launch takes place in Cyprus, where the company is rebranding local company called Svelta Courier. It will continue operating, but under the new name. With the takeover, the companies can combine the existing delivery network and technology systems with the international profile of easyGroup.
The courier offers same-day express deliveries within Cyprus for urgent parcels. It is geared towards ecommerce companies, as well as individuals sending parcels. The company has plans to grow the courier in the rest of Europe, as well. In the company’s words, it offers a flexible suite of courier services designed to meet diverse logistical demands while maintaining speed and security.
