Ceconomy, owner of MediaMarkt and Saturn, reports online revenue of more than 5.7 billion euros for the past financial year. This means the online channel now accounts for more than a quarter of total revenue for the first time. Growth is largely driven by MediaMarkt’s marketplace.

The GMV of MediaMarkt’s marketplace grew 90 percent in financial year 2024/2025 to 527 million euros, almost doubling compared with the previous financial year. This puts MediaMarkt well on track to reach a marketplace GMV of 750 million euros next year, a target that was set in 2023.

Marketplace expansion

More than two thousand sellers are now active on the platform, together offering 3.2 million products. The focus is no longer limited to consumer electronics, as MediaMarkt has expanded its assortment to include, among other things, DIY products, barbecues, toys, home interior items, fitness equipment, pet supplies, solar panels, and e-mobility products.

Geographically, the platform has also expanded, with launches in Belgium, Poland, and Turkey, bringing the total to eight countries. Launches in Switzerland and Hungary are planned for next year, as previously announced.

Online revenue

Ceconomy’s total online sales reached 5.719 billion euros last year. Customers picked up orders worth more than 2 billion euros at MediaMarkt stores and sister chain Saturn, accounting for 36 percent of total order volume, one percentage point more than a year earlier. In the final quarter, the pick-up share rose to 37 percent.

Ceconomy’s total online revenue share increased from 24 percent to 26 percent, “supported by new features and developments in artificial intelligence”, reports the company, which has been acquired by Chinese JD.com. In the new financial year, the share is expected to reach around 30 percent.
