Swiss online store Galaxus reached a revenue of 2.5 billion euros (2.3 Swiss francs) by the end of 2025. As a result, it has overtaken Zalando in the ranking of the biggest online stores in Switzerland. Zalando’s growth has stagnated, while Galaxus’ growth has accelerated quickly.
These data come from a new ranking from Carpathia, an ecommerce management consultancy. It releases a yearly ranking of the biggest online stores active in Swiss ecommerce. The revenues correspond to the companies’ own and marketplace sales (GMV), excluding VAT and adjusted for returns and cancellations.
Galaxus comes in 1st place
For the first time since Carpathia has started reporting on the biggest online stores in Switzerland, the ranking includes four sellers that have revenues in billions of Swiss francs. Galaxus and Temu have a combined revenue increase of 950 million Swiss francs (1.03 billion euros).
The difference between Galaxus and Zalando was almost 542.4 million euros in 2025
After spending years in the first place, Zalando was outranked by Galaxus by the end of 2025. The difference between the two is almost 500 million Swiss francs (542.4 million euros). When the ranking for 2024 was published, Carpathia already mentioned that Galaxus was growing faster than Zalando. Because of that, it was expected that the Swiss marketplace would rank first last year.
Top 50 stores generated more than 15 billion euros
The ranking also includes some insights into the total online retail market. The top 50 biggest online stores generated a total of 14.2 Swiss francs (15.4 billion euros) in revenue. The top 5 generated a revenue of 7.1 Swiss francs (7.7 billion euros).
80% of the top 50 are growing or maintaining their level compared to 2024
Additionally, up to 80 percent of the top 50 are growing or maintaining their level compared to 2024. The top 6 are all marketplaces, which demonstrates that customers are becoming more and more used to this business model.
