German online photo service store, PosterXXL, was rated as the best online shop in Germany. It outranks local dominant online seller Otto, as well as Lascana. Ratings were based on more than 753,000 customer reviews.
These results come from the 12th annual Best Online Shop ranking, from German rating and ranking agency ServiceValue. More than 2,400 online stores in Germany were included, from 172 sectors. It focuses on online shops that sell physical products. Online shops from brick-and-mortar retailers were also included.
‘The lower, the better’
An online panel of participants were asked to rate their satisfaction with online stores they had personally used as a customer, over the past 24 months. Responses were given on a six-point scale. The lower the average, the better the rating. The study has published a ranking within each industry, as well as an overall ranking with the stores that reached the lowest ranking in their industry.
Overall, PosterXXL received the lowest ranking (2.35) and was named the Best Online Shop. It is followed by Otto (2.37) and Lascana (2.40). Lidl came in fourth place, with a ranking of 2.43.
‘Stores need well-functioning data and processes’
“Online shopping is so popular, among other reasons, because it seems so uncomplicated and convenient,” commented Dr. Claus Dethloff, Managing Director of ServiceValue GmbH, adding, “In addition to a constantly available and visually attractive online shop, well-functioning data and performance processes in the background are also necessary so that customers are not exposed to security risks or excessively long delivery times, but are actually fully satisfied.”
