Between 2023 and last year, Zalando’s online sales revenue in Switzerland has increased slightly. It remains the biggest online retailer in the country. With its current online growth, it is expected that Galaxus will take over first place during this year.
These data come from a report published by Carpathia, a Swiss ecommerce management consultancy. The report entails a ranking of Switzerland’s top 50 biggest B2C online stores. Earlier this year, the company already reported that ecommerce in Switzerland increased 3.5 percent in 2024.
Slight revenue growth for Zalando
In 2023, Zalando’s revenue decreased but it still ranked first in the top. It generated 1.76 billion euros in revenue that year. According to the latest ranking, the online marketplace generated a revenue of 1.81 billion euros in 2024.
Following close behind in second place is Galaxus, the local online department store. Its revenue in Switzerland increased from 1.43 billion to 1.76 billion euros in one year. The company, which is internationally active, already mentioned a overall 18 percent sales increase in 2024.
‘Temu and Galaxus are winners in terms of growth’
According to Carpathia, it is likely that Galaxus will be the new market leader in Switzerland by the end of this year. When looking at the other online sellers in the top 10, it is clear that most did not show the same increase in online sales as Galaxus did.
Temu’s revenue increased from 372 million to more than 745 million euros in one year
Temu did show very strong growth, as it increased its sales in Switzerland from 372 million to 745.8 million euros in one year. At the same time Amazon actually decreased in revenue. However, it remains in fourth place.
