Last Friday, the winners of this year’s prestigious Dutch Shopping Awards were announced. Online supermarket Picnic was the winner of the evening, as it won the DHL Best Online Store of the Year award.

The Shopping Awards  is a well-known award ceremony in ecommerce in the Netherlands. It is one of the most prestigious awards for online stores in the country. This was the 24th edition. There are people’s choice awards, jury awards, a list of the fastest growing ecommerce businesses in the country, as well as the prestigious award for the best online store of the year.

Picnic wins DHL Best Online Store of the Year award

Dutch online supermarket Picnic was the winner of the DHL Best Online Store of the Year award. It won the most votes in the category Supermarkets and Delivery Services, and also won the most votes from other winners of the public Shopping Awards.

Last year, Welkoop was the winner of this award, for the second year in a row. Picnic is turning ten years old this year, and it has been part of the top-10 biggest online stores in the Netherlands for a while now.

Jury awards 2025

The five trade awards, chosen by a jury of experts, were based on motivation and a presentation of the nominees. There are several themes such as innovation, marketplace sellers, and the best starter.

This year, Mother’s Earth won the PayPal Best Starter Award, because of its fast growth and professional approach. The online store sells sustainable and organic laundry and cleaning products.

Mollie E-commerce Manager of the Year

The jury, as well as the public, also chose this year’s Mollie E-commerce Manager of the Year. Paul Wijnhoven was the winner. He is ecommerce manager at OFM. “Under the leadership of Paul Wijnhoven, OFM has experienced impressive growth, with commercial success going hand-in-hand with corporate social responsibility,” explained the expert jury.
