Starting in July, online sellers who ship with DHL will be charged a monthly fee for parcel shipping. At the same time, parcel prices are reduced. According to the company, this means that average costs are reduced when shipment volume increases.
Earlier this year, DHL already announced that it would introduce a hefty new fee during two peak weeks in November and December. The current news was announced by the German logistics company this week. Sellers who use the DHL Business Customer Portal have already received a notification about the new prices.
Monthly flat rate for sellers
Starting on July 1st, the logistics company will charge a flat rate for its DHL Parcel and DHL Returns services. The DHL Small Parcel service is not affected by the new fee. The fee is the not influenced by the number of shipments submitted per month. According to DHL, the fee is related to the company’s annual price increase.
Flat rates range from almost 8 to 120 euros
So far, sellers have reported that the flat rate ranges from 7.95 to 119.95 euros. “These amounts are tiered according to the tariff individually agreed upon with our customers”, explained a DHL spokesperson.
‘The average costs per parcel are automatically reduced as the shipment volume increases’
The parcel carrier has also recently adjusted its parcel prices. “A higher monthly flat rate goes hand in hand with a lower price per shipment”, the company spokesperson continued. “Thanks to the newly introduced monthly flat rate, the average costs per parcel for our customers are automatically reduced as the shipment volume increases – thus, growth with DHL is worthwhile with each additional shipment.”
